Changing over to spring
I spent last weekend redesigning the gallery for spring. It’s always a love/hate event. I’m such a visual person that the only way I can see something new, is to completely empty the space. I usually have a general vision of where I’m going, but inevitably everything gets moved out to start fresh. That means every item on every surface gets moved to the back room which takes forever and a lot of steps (over 20,000 according to my Fitbit, hence, the hate).
With a clean slate, I can start developing the new layout and vignettes. This time it was particularly challenging because I’m introducing the redesign services and chose to replace fixtures that have been around since the beginning.
Out went the pink table – well, not really – it was just painted a soft green. The black credenza and yellow chairs that have been a feature for the past 3 years were replaced with emerald green velvet chairs and a dusty pink console.
New light fixtures over the back work areas allow extra light to offset the natural sunlight that streams through the wall of windows at the front. And, the chairs are back – with a new design. People love seeing the chair creation in the window!
Today, I’m celebrating the change. It’s so refreshing and that’s what it is all about. CHANGE is good and gives us a whole new perspective.
